The Shelbina City Council discussed several things pertaining to the Lakeside Golf Course and the Shelbina Lake during Tuesday night’s regular council meeting at the Shelbina City Hall.
   Golf Course Update
City Clerk Tim Lacy said they had a recent golf course meeting with about 30 people attending.
He noted that they would like to adjust the clubhouse hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and make them Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
They also talked about changing the pricing for youth 18-25 years of age. They had talked about setting up a seven month membership or a one year membership on a level pay type system for those who didn’t want to pay it all at once.
City Superintendent Dennis Klusmeyer talked about doing some drainage work on the number three fairway at the golf course. He would like to make some drainage areas to get some standing water out of that area. It was noted that most of the time in the spring golfers have to walk through water to get to the number three green.
The council was in favor of making the improvements. Klusmeyer said this is a one-time project that will cost approximately $10,000. They noted that it would help the water quality at the lake as well. A motion was approved to proceed with this project.
The council also decided to set a flat fee of $5 for children under 15 years of age to play at the golf course.
   Liquor at
   the Golf Course
Lacy said that at the golf meeting it was discussed about selling alcohol at the golf course. He said the City can’t purchase a liquor license, but someone can volunteer theirs if they want to.
The cost is $75 to get a license at the golf course for a year.
