Brumbaugh Has Been Hired as the New Shelby County Economic Development Director

Wendeline Brumbaugh is the new Shelby County Economic Development Director. She began her duties on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The Shelby County Economic Development Board hired a new director recently. Wendeline Brumbaugh of Bethel began her duties Wednesday, Nov. 1. She has an office in downtown Bethel and already has some goals in mind.
   She said she wants to try to help with relationships county-wide, develop some networking with other leaders from other counties, and see what’s working.
   She said she hasn’t had a chance to sit down and meet with the entire board yet, but she plans to. She is developing a time-line on what to do.
   One thing she wants to focus on is the try to meet the needs of existing businesses in the county, and to make sure they are satisfied and make sure they are familiar with LLC’s, especially in a agricultural community.

Shelbina Voters Approve Street Tax in Tuesday’s Election

Shelbina voters approved a restricted sales tax of one-half of one percent for maintaining, creating or repairing streets, sidewalks, curb and guttering throughout the City.
   A total of 160 voters voted in favor of the measure while 89 voted against it.
   According to Mayor Al Dimmitt and the city council, the passage of this tax will generate more funds to get more done each year with street and sidewalk improvements throughout the City of Shelbina.

Three Teens Suffer Injuries in One-Vehicle Accident

Three people were injured in a one-vehicle accident five miles east of Bethel on Route J., at around 12:24 p.m. on Sunday.
   According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2010 Honda driven by 18-year-old Courtney T. Scroggins of Wentzville was traveling eastbound when it ran off the left side of the road, struck a field entrance, and went airborne.

North and South Shelby Students to Present ‘Annie’

Pictured above is the cast for the musical ‘Annie.’ It is comprised of students from both North and South Shelby. The performances will be at the Hawkins Theater in Shelbina.

Students from both the North and South Shelby High School have been working to put on their annual musical production. They would like for you to join us for the performances of this year production, Annie , under the direction of Josh McCoy and Keely McCarty.
   Starring South Shelby student, Kaitlin Caldwell, they will bring you the tale of little orphan Annie and her adventures in finding her parents amongst the busy life of New York City.
   Performance dates are Nov. 9th and 10th at 7 pm, with a matinée performance on Sunday, Nov. 12th at 2 pm. Performances are at the Hawkins Theater and admission to $5 per person.

Shelbina Woman in One-Vehicle Wreck Saturday

lted in moderate injuries to a Shelbina woman around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, on U.S. Highway 24 at Holliday.
   According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 25-yaer-old Stacey R. Biegel was driving south when her 2002 Buick LeSabre traveled off the south side of the roadway and struck a ditch.
