Shelbina City Council Discusses the Formation of a Committee to Study Golf Course Functions

The Shelbina City Council is planning to form a golf course committee to try to find ways to run the course more efficiently and effectively. This was discussed during Tuesday night’s Shelbina City Council meeting at the Shelbina City Hall.
   Golf Course Committee
Council member John Smith had this issue put on the agenda to try to form a committee to help with ideas to make the golf course more manageable and profitable.
Mayor Al Dimmitt said they could set it up as another committee that would run alongside the Parks and Rec. Committee. He said he would like to get members that not only lived in the city limits of Shelbina, but also ones outside the city limits. City Attorney John Wilcox said it wouldn’t be an issue.
City Superintendent Dennis Klusmeyer and Dimmitt agreed that getting some new fresh ideas would be a good thing.
Dimmitt said it was a lot cheaper to operate when they had sand greens. But he noted that if it had sand greens, nobody would be out there playing in the first place.
They also discussed cracking down on those who play after hours without paying.
   Ordinance Changing the
   City Superintendent’s
   Job Title
The council approved a bill into ordinance that will change the City Superintendent’s job title to Utility Superintendent/Operations Manager.
