Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway issued her office’s monthly report on local governments who failed to meet financial reporting laws. Out of the 333 local governments with financial reports due last month, 44% failed to meet the deadline. Shelbina was one of those towns. Shelbina City Clerk Tim Lacy explained that the City is waiting on its annual audit report to make sure everything is correct and the way it should be, before turning in the report.
Cities, towns and villages in Missouri are required to file annual financial reports with the State Auditor within six months of the end of their fiscal year. The reports must include basic financial information, such as starting and ending account balances, the amount of money received and spent over the year, and property tax rates charged to citizens.

The City of Shelbina and Shelby County employees worked together to clean up old junk concrete and dirt from previous projects that have taken place throughout the City. The excess dirt and concrete was being cleaned up just east of the Wastwater Plant on the south edge of Shelbina. According to Shelbina Assistant Superintendent Rob Trivette, the City was loading the trucks and the County was hauling it off to be used as filler in needed places.   8675 1706 2/8/2017 hdl
