After months of discussions, the Shelbina City Council approved the City Improvement Project with Schneider Electric, during Tuesday night’s meeting at the Shelbina City Hall.
   City Improvement
   Project
With Peter Hinkle and Drew Sebelius of Schneider Electric on hand to answer questions and discuss details for nearly an hour, the Shelbina City Council approved the improvement project that would touch on metering, streetlight retrofit and facilities lighting.
The metering part would cover automated meter reads for the water and sewer departments, and the electrical department. Cost savings were estimated for that as well as the streetlight retrofit and materials involved with that. Cost savings were also factored in for facilities lighting and materials. All together Schneider is estimating a totals savings of the base scope of $142,134.
The scope of work for the project will include three areas, the metering for the water, gas and electric departments, the lighting retrofits and the SCADA system and electric plant upgrade. A breakdown of each in much more detail will be in next week’s issue of the Shelbina Weekly.
