The Shelbina City Council heard a concerned mother express her anger and displeasure over the fact that she was told that nothing can be done about her daughter being bit by a dog. This discussion took place during Tuesday night’s Shelbina City Council meeting.
   Concerned Mother
Dayna Power reported that her daughter was bitten on her stomach by a Great Dane recently. When she and her husband went to the neighbor’s house to let them know what happened, the dog came around and chased her husband off the porch and out of the front yard all the way to the street.
“Unfortunately, because it was on their property, I was told by (Shelbina City Marshal Jerry) Fenton and other officials that nothing could be done about this dog,” Power said.
“The owner, Luke O’Laughlin, was out of town for the day and most of the evening and the dog was seen outside Sunday morning after the incident,” she added.
Power said her concern was that the dog should have been picked up and properly secured. She also had to wait a couple days to see written proof that the dog had its Rabies shots.
