The Shelbina City Council and Mayor Al Dimmitt learned Tuesday night that actual demolition for the City’s Demo Grant may be pushed back until spring. Shelbina City Superintendent Dennis Klusmeyer reported this during the regular council meeting at the Shelbina City Hall.
   Demolition Schedule
Klusmeyer said that as it stands right now, the City has all the contracts signed with the landowners who will have structures coming down as part of the Demo Grant. “They are still waiting on some information from the State Historical Preservation Office,” he said. Klusmeyer added that they are waiting on a “notice to proceed.” He noted that after talking to representatives from Holman Construction, who has been contracted to do the demolition projects, they are probably looking at a spring project at this point. He said Holman has two contracts ahead of the City of Shelbina.
Klusmeyer said they ended up with 31 structures that will be coming down as part of the Demo Grant.
   City Improvement Project Update
Shelbina City Clerk Tim Lacy reported that representatives from Schneider Electric will be in town on Wednesday to update the City and give preliminary information as well as ask a few more questions before making their presentation to the council during the Jan. 26 meeting.
Lacy explained that they will give the presentation on the 26th, and answer any questions the City might have to finalize the scope of the project and figure out the cost of the project. The council will have to decide after that in no specific time-line what it wants to do. Lacy said they might like to make a decision maybe by the first part of March.
He said Schneider is done with their analysis and are now finalizing their proposal.
